As we have seen in the fall and spring semester collaborating with other creative keys on a film
can lead to creative disagreements or conflicts. How can you best resolve these? What practices
can you put in place at the beginning of a collaboration that set the right expectations? (10 pts.)

If one role of the producer is to inspire a filmmaker to realize their dream and to find the vision
that everyone will get behind, then the next role is to knock this dream back down to reality by
helping the director understand what can be accomplished within the limits of what they can

Producers need to know both when to step in and when to step away. Leaving well enough
alone is an art form unto itself. What do we mean by this in terms of your role as Producer? Give

Every director is different. Producers need to learn to trust the director and their individual
process. From a producer’s point of view, what is the role of trust on a film not only with the
director but with the cast and crew? Explain this and give an example. (10 pts.)
