Week 4: Technology For Teaching Writing T. Hall Technology To Teach Literacy How can all teachers integrate computers into their literacy program? Teachers can integrate computers into their literacy program by assessing their resources. So, they can make sure they have a computer-learning center integrated into their writing or reading lesson with internet access. For example, when students are joining computer and writing it give them a chance to write, delete, edit, or correct text. Another way teachers can integrate computers into their literacy program is using a smartboard, or posting assignments online to increase their engagement and to help them become organize. For instance, when teachers assign homework or assignments in Google Classroom, blackboard, etc. Teachers are able to not only track their post and comments but also track their students as well. Last teachers would have to incorporate computer time for each students have sufficient time to use computer. (Anderson, Speck, Grant) Digital and Media Literacy How can teachers incorporate more than one discipline in a unit of study? Teachers can incorporate more than one discipline in a unit of study by helping students to learn to think, read, and analyze texts of different cultures and time. Students will be able to think like a historian. For example, they will be able to understand the difference between Direct, Real-World experience and Mediated experience. Many people love video games and enjoys the immersion that feels so real and pleasurable. On the other hand, someone could make the statement of an historian because of his acting performance. Another way teachers can incorporate more than one discipline in a unit is having an English teacher and Social Studies teacher work together in order to generate a point of view of literacy text. For example, students can analyze, produce, and examine similarities and differences between visual and verbal message. By learning how to assess students learning through their writing and applying media literacy pedagogy. That fits with the state curriculum for teaching. Therefore, students can carry out the task, using evidence, and evaluating in life outside of the classroom. (Hobbs)
