2 Clinical Field Experience C: Cultural Competence Part I: Continued Language Support In order to embrace and promote cultural diversity in teaching, I will display a large map in the classroom. Every week, I would choose a student at random to mark on a map where they or their family came from. Throughout the week, I would share interesting facts about the selected region with the children. At the end of the week, I will play music, a video, or a short documentary to provide further understanding. Additionally, I will organize a culture day for the students to immerse them in different traditions and customs. I make an effort to get to know my ELL students before anything else. To achieve this, I will provide a brief questionnaire for them to take home. This questionnaire includes inquiries about their mother tongue, their comfort level with English, and their hobbies and preferences. Moreover, I will permit my students to utilize Google Translate when interacting with peers or seeking help from me as their teacher. I utilize their existing knowledge as a foundation. I focus on developing the strengths shown by each student. Every student will be supported to succeed in class. If a student becomes agitated, there is a dedicated cool-down area where they can rest until they are ready to rejoin the group, unless they are requested to leave the room. I establish classroom routines to ensure that every student knows what is expected of them when they enter the classroom. I display instructions in both English and other languages spoken by the students. I promote and celebrate the diverse cultures represented in the classroom by showcasing pictures and displays. My goal is to make sure that every student feels welcomed and accepted. I asked the mentor teacher two additional question one was in reference to how she included ELL students during the holiday season. She requests every student to choose a holiday or festival from their own culture, and as a group, we explore the significance of the chosen
