One Arrested After Shooting at a High School in Mobile On January 30, 2024, at LeFlore High School in Mobile, AL, police responded to a 911 call. Officers found out that there was a verbal altercation between the two. During the argument, the female pulled out a handgun and shot the male.
The students were terrified, and some wanted to go home due to the threat of their lives with the shooting happening on campus. The suspect surrendered and was taken to jail. In the aftermath, the campus community came together in an unprecedented show of solidarity and support. Counselors were made available around the clock to help students and staff process the traumatic event. Vigils were held to honor the victims and to provide a space for collective healing. Responding to the Students the Day After Classes were suspended for the remainder of the week to allow everyone time to recover and reflect. Faculty members reached out to their students, offering not just academic support but emotional reassurance as well. Messages of hope and unity were shared across social media, with hashtags like #CampusStrong trending as a testament to the community's resilience. Counselors were available if the students needed someone to talk with as well.
