ELET 2103 Digital Systems 4 74LS112D (2) 74LS138N 74LS51 330Ω (8) 10KΩ resistor 100µF capacitor LEDs (8) Function generator Power supply Connecting wires Procedure: Figure 1 (Circuit Diagram)
ELET 2103 Digital Systems 5 Figure 2 (MOD-8 Diagram) This experiment requires two teams to work together. One team builds the MOD-8 Counter portion of this circuit, another builds the MUX and DMUX portion. Our team built the MOD-8 Counter portion, and that is what I will be discussing in this report. For the MOD-8 Counter, we will follow the instructions from last lab. Place the 2 74LS112D ICs on the breadboard and connect the VCC and ground wires according to the pin-out in figure 4. Connect the 10KΩ resistor to VCC and the CLR pins. Connect the capacitor to those CLR pins and the ground. Connect the remaining wires according to the circuit diagram and the function generator to pin 3 of the first IC. Where the three LEDs went in the last lab (shown in figure 2) is where the MUX and DMUX circuit will connect. Use 3 wires to connect both circuits and turn on the function generator and power supply. Numerical Data / Analysis: Figure 3 (Built Circuit)
ELET 2103 Digital Systems 6 Conclusion : This circuit lights up according to which gates are open, there are seven gates. While our circuit unfortunately did not function properly, we do understand the concept and theory of this experiment. The pulse is given to the MOD-8 counter similarly to the previous experiment and power is given to both circuits through the power supply. We added 3 LEDs on the MOD-8 to ensure that portion of the circuit was working properly when troubleshooting our experiment. References: Figure 4 (74LS112D Pinout)
