Alyssa Tran 9/14/23 Lab Assignment #3 1. Create a Histogram displaying the distribution of values for the variable “prevexp.” (paste the histogram image into your Lab Assignment document that you will submit. 2. What is the Mean and Standard Deviation?; - The mean of the previous experience is 95.86 months. The standard deviation of the previous experience is 104.586 months. 3. How would you describe the shape of the distribution (i.e., normal, positive/negative kurtosis, positive/negative skewness). Explain your answer. - The shape of the distribution has a negative kurtosis due to the flat peak that the histogram presents, while also having a positive skewness as the mean follows to the right of the median.
4. Create a Bar chart illustrating the average current salary (SALARY} by employment category (JOBCAT}. 5. Which group has the highest current salary? - The group that has the highest current salary is the ‘Manager’ group. 6. Create a scatterplot illustrating the relationship between beginning salary (SALBEGIN} and current salary (SALARY}.
7. Describe the scatterplot. Does the figure suggest that these values are closely related (i.e., the dots are close together and you can easily draw an imaginary straight line through the middle) or if they are not related (i.e., the plots are scattered randomly throughout the chart and not close together. - The scatterplot presents the data as both closely related and not closely related. This being due to the majority of the responses being closely scattered together near the beginning salary of $20,000 and current salary between $25,000 and $50,000. The reason it is not closely related is due to the fact that beginning between around $30,000 and $40,000 starting salary and $60,000 current salary, the data begins to scatter out and more skewed.
