Report
Advocating for Propositions of Policy State proposition: The US Federal system should legalize marijuana. I. State the reason for the change. This is the only place you can argue NEED. The current state calls for replacing the marijuana black market, which is risky and costly to regulate, with a legitimate market that the government can easily control. A. What is the nature of the disparity? Legalizing marijuana in over 50 states will be a life-changing endeavor as many citizens will access the drug from legalized stores instead of getting it from the streets, where it can be laced with other dangerous drugs. B. How extreme is it? Ninety-eight thousand, two hundred and sixty-eight deaths were reported in 2021 due to drug overdoses (Morrow, 2023). C. Does the disparity cause harm to something or someone? The disparity can cause deaths due to overdoses and drug addiction habits. D. Is the disparity inherent in the present nature of things? Yes, nothing is 100% efficient, and the legalization of marijuana will not be exceptional. Like any drug, marijuana is highly addictive, and its legalization may negatively affect people's lives (Morrow, 2023). II. State what the plan is. This is the only place you can argue PLAN. The change plan here is that of implementing immigration reforms. A. What is the change? Legalizing marijuana in over 50 states B. What is the mechanism for change? Having the government's legislative body legislate the move and guide its implementation. C. How much will it cost, and how will it be paid? The cost would be minimal as all parties involved, from the legislative body to the enforcement agencies, are still on the government payroll. They will only be added to another policy to commit to and work on.
D. Who will enforce the change? How will violations be handled? Who will enforce compliance? The government is responsible for enforcing the change through its agencies. Violations will be held the same way other criminal offenses are dealt with. II. State the consequences of the policy. This is the only place you can argue SOLVENCY. Legalizing marijuana will reduce the number of deaths caused by an overdose of the drug as its use will be regulated. A. How does the proposed policy address the disparity? The proposed change will make it easier for the government to regulate the marijuana business and use, a case that will see many people use the recommended quantities of the drug. B. How does it overcome the disparity? Legalizing marijuana will see many people access the drug from legalized stores like pharmacies, a case that will see them be guided on the proper doses to take (Mikos, 2020). This will reduce the deaths caused by the drug overdose. C. How workable is the proposed policy? The policy is workable as it will benefit the government and the citizens. Citizens will be relieved of the burden of losing so many people to drug overdose, while the government will reap revenue from the legalized business (Hall & Lynskey, 2020). D. What are the subsidiary effects of the proposed policy? The subsidiary effect of legalizing marijuana is the increased number of people with an addiction who may use it for purposes other than medicinal ones. References
