Hey everyone, I read through a few different articles on the possible applications of linear algebra and, as a computer science major, the possibilities of using these applications are numerous. For one linear algebra directly correlates with the class I had this term which is software security. Matrix transformations are directly used for encoding and decrypting methods in cryptography. It is also used in various data analysis and machine learning areas such as pattern recognition, data categorization, and graphics programming. It is also utilized in one of my favorite topics, game theory. This is the mathematical theory of the different options to players in various competitive games such as card games, or board games and is utilized in strategic military planning. With the rise of technology in areas such as machine learning, robotics, and artificial intelligence, the future possibilities of linear algebra in computer science are limitless. It is being used to enhance robotic systems and their movement, for autonomous systems such as self- driving cars and planes, and to develop learning algorithms in the field of artificial intelligence. I am still unsure of what area I will focus my career but upon reading some of these articles, it is clear that having a deeper understanding of linear algebra would help me be more efficient in it. There are many libraries and applications available to help perform linear operations, however, having a greater understanding of even the basics of linear algebra helps optimize models, provides more accurate data, and provides extra security when transforming any data matrices.
