Image Authentication Image Source Authentication How would you report your findings in this case? Inconsistent with purported provenance or source. The source or provenance is established to be different than the purported. Choose one of the features you identified and explain why this supports your findings? The person of interested states the origin of the photograph came from the camera model Canon800D, however, after examining the photograph through metadata2go, the camera model was in fact a NIKON DES. Therefore, the claim about the source of the image is inconsistent with the purported provenance or source provided. Image Content Authentication How would you report your findings in this case? Evidence of manipulation observed, the image has been altered from its original source and/or content which results in misrepresentation. Choose one of the features you identified and explain why this support your findings? Through observing IMG_129 it is apparent that the image was highly edited, and the image content is not real. There is significant JPEG blocking on the male face in comparison with the rest of the background. Hence, through the manipulation of JPEG blocking, the conclusion of the evidence has been altered from its original source which has resulted in the misrepresentation of the overall image. The male’s original face has been replaced and edited with the current one whereas, the female’s face and background remains the same.
