TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL VIRTUAL TEAMS 2 The topmost tip for developing a successful virtual team is to start with the right people. The team identification process should involve the use of personality tests and interviewing techniques that gauge whether the members exhibit sensitivity to other cultures, autonomy, emotional intelligence, resilience as well as empathy[ CITATION Rob16 \l 1033 ]. I chose this tip because it ensures that the right mold of people is included in the team ergo improving collaboration. The second tip is ensuring effective communication while using the right tools[ CITATION Sem22 \l 1033 ]. This tip is effective as it facilitates better communication among members of the virtual team through regular meetings, video conferences, or even instant messaging services. The third tip is the provision of support to the members of the virtual team. This tip is useful as it ensures that an open-door policy is put in place that increases motivation and employee commitment. The fourth tip is ensuring that there is effective information sharing by proactively diversifying the type of information shared within the team[ CITATION Vic212 \l 1033 ]. This team is momentous in improving debriefing and comfort among the team members. Moreover, information sharing is significant in clarifying the roles of team members which in turn aligns them to the overarching mission and vision of the team. The post by Brian Cantwell is quite informative as it explores how a virtual team can be developed and sustained. The student alludes that the virtual work environment is useful as it improves communication amid time constraints. Moreover, leaders have to develop a strategy that pushes the team towards a predefined goal and objective. The strategy should mitigate the existent silo mentality which can hinder the team’s efficiency levels. Additionally, taking into account the unique background of every team member can help drive innovation and accentuate cross-departmental collaboration. I agree with the assertion that each team member should be provided an opportunity to lead the team and address issues.
TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL VIRTUAL TEAMS 3 In his post, Davis Echevarria adumbrates that the overarching of leadership is to lead by example. The student provides a prime example of their involvement in a virtual team during the coronavirus pandemic. Initially, it was challenging due to time differences, IT issues as well as communication over the internet. I learned from this post that the challenges were managed through tailoring the communication channels to fit the needs of the members. Moreover, I surmised that great leaders have to engage and motivate people despite the various issues they might face during their endeavors. References Batırlık, S. N., Gencer, Y. G., & Akkucuk, U.
