What type of cognitive biometric "memorable event" do you think would be effective? Design your own example that is different from those provided in Chapter 12 of the text. There should be five steps, and each step should have seven options. The final step should be a fill-in-the-blank user response. Compare your steps with another student's response. Which do you think would be easiest for the user? Cognitive biometric is method of training a piece of technological equipment to have human-like patterns. Cognitive biometrics are easier for the user to remember since they are based on the person’s life experiences. Some examples of events that could go into a cognitive biometric system are favorite vacation, first pets name, kids or family member’s birthday, anniversary, etc. The five questions with 7 possible answers would appear like this: 1. How many dogs have you ever owned? a. 1 b. 2 c. 3 d. 4 e. 5 f. 6 g. 7 2. How many cities have you lived in during your life? a. 1 b. 2 c. 3 d. 4 e. 5 f. 6 g. 7 3. Which of your vacations was the most memorable? a. Mexico b. Italy c. Japan d. Ecuador e. London f. Germany g. Prague 4. What is your favorite color? a. Red b. Orange c. Yellow d. Green e. Blue f. Indigo g. Violet 5. What is your favorite band____________?
I stuck clear from any questions that a potential hacker could use true people finder or another free service to find the answer to. The vacation question I included one or two places I may not have been to which would throw off hackers attempting to access my account. Using questions like your middle name, city you most recently lived in or birth dates are all easily accessible by hackers and criminals and puts the account at risk. I do not feel any of my questions are too easy unless the person has been following me my entire life or has a lucky guess on all 5 of my security questions. References Revett, K. (2012).
