Capture the Flag (CTF) Write-Up Section I: The Solves List the 10 CTF challenges you attempted. For Category 1 challenges, I utilized a Base64 decoder from an online search, a binary conversion tool, a hex to ASCII decoder, and a HEX to IPV4 converter. For Category 8, I used hashes.com and entered the hash strings directly on the website. To solve the two Category 7 challenges, I employed Google Dorks to streamline my search and quickly locate the answers. Section III: Lessons Learned What are your strengths/How would your skills benefit a CTF team? o I excel in conducting thorough analyses. Which challenge categories did you find straightforward? o I found Category 1 and 8 relatively easy, as I swiftly identified the solutions. In which areas do you need more practice? o To be frank, I was somewhat disappointed with the level of difficulty across most challenges, so I believe I need practice in all areas. Which challenge categories did you struggle with or avoid? o I encountered difficulties with most categories, prompting me to consider setting up VMs to better approach these CTF challenges. Were there challenges you attempted but did not complete or did not attempt at all? o I only completed challenges that I felt confident in tackling upon initial inspection. How can you enhance your skills in those areas (strategies, tools, websites, etc.)? o Increasing familiarity with keyboard shortcuts, completing more lab exercises, and gaining a deeper understanding of various tools would significantly improve my capabilities. Websites like Hackthebox offer valuable resources across a wide range of CTF challenge areas.
