Stage Fright
Case Study Questions
1.
Let's say that you were Julio's counselor. What additional advice would you give
him? Why?
As the counselor for Julio, I would provide him with supplementary guidance to further
alleviate his fear of performing on stage. Regarding the strategies already mentioned, it
would benefit him to incorporate consistent physical activity and uphold a well-balanced
lifestyle. This is because physical health can significantly impact mental well-being and self-
assurance. Additionally, it might be beneficial for Julio to contemplate becoming a member
of a nearby Toastmasters or comparable association dedicated to enhancing public speaking
skills. This would provide him with increased opportunities to refine his abilities and gain
valuable experience within a nurturing and encouraging setting. Furthermore, I would suggest
that he focuses on cultivating a well-defined and concise format for his presentation,
encompassing a captivating introduction and a compelling conclusion that will undoubtedly
make a memorable impact on his listeners. Finally, it is highly recommended that Julio
pursue various avenues for engaging in public speaking to gradually enhance his self-
assurance and gradually reduce his sensitivity towards the anxiety associated with addressing
an audience.
2.
Explain the role self-esteem played in this case.
Self-esteem was a crucial factor in this situation. Julio's diminished self-confidence
worsened his fear of performing, resulting in restless evenings and incapacitating unease. His
pessimistic self-image led him to envision the most dire outcomes and dread being mocked
by his coworkers. Julio's assurance flourished as he toiled away at enhancing his self-worth
via counseling, diligent practice, and uplifting self-dialogue. This recently discovered self-

confidence played a crucial role in his capacity to overcome his fear of performing on stage
and delivering a presentation that was both calm and captivating.
3.
If you get stage fright, what steps do you take to minimize its effects?
To reduce the impact of stage fright, people can implement various proactive
measures. First, they must engage in extensive and repetitive practice to develop a profound
and comprehensive understanding of their presentation material. Breathing exercises of a
deep nature possess the ability to alleviate nerves, while the utilization of visualization
techniques can enhance one's level of confidence. Positive self-talk is crucial when it comes
to replacing those pesky negative thoughts. And let me tell you, seeking professional support
or joining support groups can offer valuable guidance. Trust me on this one. Slowly
escalating the intricacy of verbal commitments and upholding a robust bond with the listeners
can alleviate performance anxiety. Ultimately, the crucial elements for dealing with and
conquering stage fright are readiness, repetition, and belief in oneself.
