7 in the search for Veganism in Australia. The trend is seen to increase every year compared to the data from other countries. Figure 2. (Google trends, 2017) 13 Figure 2. clearly shows how Vegan products have been highly demanded in Australia. From 2017, the curve has never gone below the 50 marks. This is encouraging to the company since employing digital marketing as a strategy is predicted to be successful. The above data has shown how most citizens in Australia have decided to avoid consuming meat. Research by google trend has revealed that this trend in Australia is contributed by the fact that the country is concerned with human beings' health residing in Australia and the climate changes experienced. Further, it is better enough to acquire knowledge on the nature of competition a particular keyword is facing to determine the success of employing your market strategies in the industry. According to google trend, the competition facing this keyword is low. Vegan has appeared to be the most searched, and the margin between it and the following entity is wider. Gluten-free was the second most keyword to be searched by 13 IBID 7.
8 the people of Australia, followed by paleo. The two entities, however, show a decline in their search results in the previous years. 14 . This shows that vegan-related searches have been among the top key search terms in the country. These search terms have adopted a tendency of reaching more than 2500 searches every month. Competition analysis The emerging trend of vegan consumption has been reported to be on the rise in Australia. This new market trend has forced food-related companies based in Australia to shift their focus from producing animal-related products to plant-based products. 15 . The abrupt shift o focus has resulted in high competition in the vegan food industry. Each company has engaged in employing effective marketing strategies to enable them to thrive in the food industry. These companies have also considered to avoid animal- related ingredients while producing their products. According to research, packaged vegan food products in Australia have been worth $ 215 million in 2020 16 . This is a significant rise after the same research has shown that packaged vegan products in the country have been worth $ 60 million in 2015. The new market trend, which is characterized by the high demand for vegetarians and vegan proteins, serves as an indicator of where Australia's food industry is at the moment. Besides, restaurants and food chain stores in the country have included vegetarian and vegan products to attract more customers and generate profits. On the other hand, food manufacturers have responded to the situation as they have engaged in innovation. 17 . Research has shown that the rate at which new vegan products are introduced in Australia has tripled in the last five years. According to the data by Grandview research (2017), most people living in Australia have changed. The fact that animals are regarded to be living things and should be protected from cruelty and pain has made most Australians stop the practice of consuming animal products. The trends in climate change and individuals' well-being in Australia have also contributed to change in lifestyles. 14 IBID 9. 15 Murray and Zolin, (2012.pp.186-205). 16 Cormack, 2016. 17 Curtain and Grafenauer, (2019.p.2603).
9 In addition, research from Google trends (2020) has shown that over 50% of consumers in Australia are fond of purchasing vegetables and groceries on online platforms. 18 . This has forced most companies in the vegan food industry to develop and significantly utilize online platforms. In 2018, online shoppers were more than offline shoppers 19 . This is because different companies have adopted the belief that online stores have appeared to increase the profit generated each year. Also, the emergence of Covid 19 is another factor that has made lots of consumers prefer accessing vegan products on online platforms 20 . The data in figure 3. have shown how the consumers have shifted to online platforms thus, forcing companies to restructure their marketing strategies. This has been a significant factor that has led to increased competition in the vegan industry's online market. Figure 3. (Grandview research, 2020) 21 The information presented above indicates that Worldwide Vegan Diaries, Inc. has to be aware of the competition existing in Australia's vegan online food industry. It further becomes a challenge when one considers the little difference or distinction between companies in Australia's Vegan industry. Therefore, to expand as required in the Australian vegan market, it has to employ different and quality assurance strategies. 18 IBID 9. 19 Amesbury,et al. (2016. pp.261-270). 20 Shakibaei,et al.
