1. The Moon is full and it is at its highest point in the night sky. Approximately what time is it? The moon is typically at its highest point in the night sky at midnight. It will rise around sunset and set around sunrise. 2. Even if this day was cloudy, approximately when and where could I have looked for the Moon on Mar. 10 th , 2023 (or Apr. 9 th , 2023 if the first date is unmanageable) and what would I have seen (e.g. full moon, half moon, etc.)? The moon was in a waxing gibbus phase. It would have been in the southern part of the sky and visible in the early morning, just before sunrise. 3. Using your observations, how would you argue that the Moon is a sphere (as opposed to a flat disk or something else)? The moon appears as a circle in the sky when it is full which suggests that the shape is a sphere. You can also see the shadows of the moon (craters) move as the phases change which would also suggest that it is not a flat object. 4. Using your observations, how would you argue that the Moon is simply (and only) reflecting light (as opposed to producing its own light)? 5. Approximately how long is it from one phase cycle to the next? From a new moon to a new moon it takes approximately 29 days. 6. If the Moon is directly overhead at a certain time one night, where will it be at that same time a few days later (e.g. further east, further west, etc.)? Depending on the phase of the moon it will start to move further west. From my observations the moon will rise in the East/northeast and set in the west/southwest. Moon observations below
