Final Reflections
Throughout this course, I gained a substantial amount of knowledge on how to
implement theatre elements into the classroom. I believe many educators today are
implementing theatre into their classrooms without realizing it. I can honestly think back
on several moments during my teaching assistant days where many of the exercises
presented throughout this course were used when teaching my girls at Girls Inc. Little
did I know that these exercises were planting seeds of self-confidence, creativity, and
individuality in the hearts of each and every one of my students.
Prior to this course, I was unaware that theatre exercises can be used during
class time rather than confined to a theatre class. It was interesting to see all the ideas
my classmates had to include these exercises in their classroom. Specifically- given my
personality and my teaching style- I’d like to incorporate more of the interviewing and
tableau exercises into my class. I like to engage with my students one-and-one and this
exercise gives the opportunity for me to do so. I appreciate all of the information given
throughout this course. The majority of these exercises will be used throughout my
teaching career. Thank you!
