Benchmark—Gospel Essentials The Christian worldview is something that is a little different among every denomination. Some Christians believe in the Holy Trinity, while others believe that they are all separate beings that are one in purpose! To me what unites us is our faith. We have faith in things that are hoped for and not seen. We believe that we are here on this earth for a reason, that being to grow and let our lights shine. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). As Christians we seek God first. We live our lives being in the world but not of the world. We are an advocate for Christ and stand as His witness at all times and in all things. With every difference there is between the Christian Worldviews, there is one thing that we all have in common, that being our love for God! Gospel Essential Beliefs Nature of God I have a strong testimony of the nature of my Heavenly Father. I know that He is all knowing, all powerful and loves every single one of His children on earth and in Heaven. I know that he is merciful while also being a man of justice. “We can do no better than use different words, for Aquinas holds that it is true to say that God is just, and that God is merciful; and he believes we need to say both” (Hughes, 1995). It is amazing that one person can be both and do so perfectly. God wants us to come to earth and live righteously. He knows that this is what will make us happy in the long run. Although this is true, He loves us the exact same way when we make mistakes and stray from the path that He knows is best for us. I think we truly saw this nature when He chose Jesus’ plan over satans. He allows us to make our own choices and is understanding of how we choose to live our lives. God will only come into our lives if we want him there. He is polite and compassionate while also letting us have our space if we need it to
find ourselves. He ultimately wants us to be as happy as we possibly can be. Nature of Humanity The nature of humanity is something that is seen as complicated, having many different opinions and outlooks. The bible tells us that man is made having a natural body with a spiritual soul. This means that although our innate nature and wants are good we are often influenced by a natural world where temptations are all around us. We are spiritual beings living in a natural world, full of natural, sinful things. “And even if it were possible that little children could sin they could not be saved; but I say unto you they are blessed; for behold, as in Adam, or by nature, they fall, even so the blood of Christ atoneth for their sins'' (Mosiah 3:6). By nature we sin because of the sin that is on the world. There is not one person on this earth that has lived a perfect life besides Jesus Christ. It is because of His sacrifice that we are able to repent of our sins and become clean from the ways of the world. God knew this and knew that Jesus would have to sacrifice for us! This is why the restoration and the atonement were so important to the nature of humanity! Nature of Jesus Jesus Christ is our Savior. He is the life and the light of the world. When thinking of the nature of Jesus, I simply think of the word peace. He is God's Only Begotten Son, a man that took the sins of the world upon himself to allow us to be able to repent and be cleansed. I would say that His nature is humble, kind, patient and understanding. He knows all things and has felt any pain that has ever existed. He is a sacrifice, a leader and someone that keeps me on the straight and narrow path. He is a teacher and an advocate, standing up for us and making us better each and everyday. “Christians have faith in the person of Jesus Christ, trusting Christ for forgiveness and to transform them more and more from selfishness to selflessness” (Diffey, &

Holland, 2022). Jesus Christ takes us in a sinful state and creates us into faithful saints if we simply allow Him to be in our lives. If we take even one step towards Him, He will come running to us! His nature is that of compassion, for those who feel like they don’t fit in or don’t have a place. You will always have a place in our Saviors heart. Restoration There is one solution in this world that solves every problem. That solution is having faith in Jesus Christ. Alone we are weak and without power. We cannot, with our actions alone, save ourselves from the sin and the heartache that is in the world. With Jesus we have a path. When we obey Him and the follow the plan that He knows is best for us, we can be saved. God understands when we make mistakes and has a perfect understanding that we will never be perfect. He doesn’t expect this of us. Knowing this He has created a plan where we can repent and become clean of our wrong doings, all we have to do is put in a little effort. The church has been restored on this earth so that we can make changes in our lives. Something that is amazing about our Savior is that He does not force us to change. “You cannot compel someone to join a religion or faith; it must be done sincerely, with a change in one’s heart” (Olsen, T. 2016). Change is something that comes to people who are willing to put in effort. This is why God chose Jesus’ plan in the prexistance. He wanted us to have free will and to make the choice to change and become one with Him! He wanted us to be able to admit when we needed help. With this free will, we are able to ask God to be in our hearts and at the center of our lives. Christian Foundations Being a Christian creates many opportunites for change and life altering experiences. When someone commits their life to following in our Saviors footsteps, they become part of something that is bigger than we can imagine. When becoming part of Christs army we come to find faith
and happiness in things that we never could have before. I believe that being a Christian also allows you to gain a bond with others in a special way. When you find others who love and accept Jesus, putting Him above all else, you find people who share your struggles and have questions familiar to your own. These people also have the same priorities and want to share their light with others as we have been commanded to do. I make it my goal everyday to share the gospel with someone in a small way. Whether people want to believe it or not, faith and religion create the stringest foundation in life. It reminds us to be humble and to put others above ourselves. It reminds us to care for those who are less cared for and serve those who are overlooked. In a world that is so far from God we must learn to find Him in all things. “Blessed are those who believe without seeing.” (John 20:29) It is faith that we have in our Father in Heaven and our actions that honor Him, that will allow us to live with Him once more. Analysis of the Implications of the Christian Worldview Being a Christian is something that changes someones life completely. It affects the way people think, act and treat others. I believe to be a true Christian is to come to God with every trial, temptation and good things in our lives. To be a person who truly lives for, and with God, in mind at all times. Saying this, God understands that we are not perfect and could even at times question our faith. He simply wants us to try our best. As humans we are extremely valuable to God. We were created in His image and He sees more worth in us than any other person ever could. Our lives will be the most prosperous when we follow the path that God has created for us. This is something that we have to learn for ourselves. We cannot simply rely on our loved ones testimonies. When we enter into a new chapter of life that is completely on our own the decision becomes ours. We have to stand firm in our faith and live the life that we want, fighting off temptations that tell us that there is only one way to be happy. “Humans were created to know
and worship God by loving him and obeying his commands” (Diffey, & Holland, 2022). We are advocates for God and must live our lives accordingly. God is the ultimate judge, we are simply here to learn, share and forgive. This life is test that prepares us to live with our Father in Heaven once again. Conclusion It is clear to see that Christianity has shaped my life in a way that is incomparable. Our salvation is found in Jesus Christ. When we repent and come unto Him we truly find peace and comfort. The world is often without God, but He is always with us. When we repent and turn away from sin, God sees us. He know all that we do and all that we struggle with. We should never be ashamed or avoid repentance. God is never embarrassed of where we are in our lives. He simply wants to see us try our best and put in an effort. I know that we can be saved if we believe in God and spend our lives sharing His light! God loves us more than we could ever know. He sent His son to die for us which allows us to become spotless. Our nature is sinful and and without our Savior we would never be able to enter into the gates of Heaven. We are blessed to have this opportunity to have a change of heart! It is amazing that we have a God that is both merciful and just. Without God we are nothing but a lost soul trying to find its way. I am so grateful to be able to have God on my side at all times and in all places! Resources
