1.
In Activity 1, which way did the blue marble travel when the cup was removed? If
How does the velocity of the bobber when spun with a mass of 14 washers in the
cylinder compare with the velocity of the bobber when spun with a mass of 8 washers in the cylinder?
The blue marble, moved in a comparable path to its rotational motion. The speed of the spinner, when rotated with a load of 14 washers as opposed to 8, exhibited a substantial disparity because the spinner accelerated with an increase in mass.
2.
Describe the relationship between the mass of the cylinder with the washers and the velocity of the bobber. The velocity of the bobber seems to be independent from the mass of the bobber from my observation. However, they are similar in the fact that they behave differently as weight is being added to them. Their velocity may change and their ability to maintain a certain radius may change as well. 3.
What do you notice about the relationship between the centripetal force and the weight of the cylinder with washers? Explain the reason for this relationship.
I observed that as additional weight was added to a cylinder using washers, the centripetal force it experienced increased, and this force was directly proportional to the weight of the cylinders.
4.
How will centripetal force be affected if you double the velocity at which you spin
the sphere? If the velocity is doubled, the centripetal force undergoes a substantial alteration
as it intensifies. This phenomenon arises from the direct correlation between centripetal force and velocity – the higher the velocity, the greater the centripetal force.
5.
What would you expect to happen to the velocity of the bobber if the mass of the washers in the cylinder remained the same and the radius was doubled? Keeping the mass of the washer’s constant, if the radius were to be doubled in the cylinder, the bobber's velocity would be halved. This adjustment in the radius would impact both the velocity and centripetal force formulas.
