Chapter 6, Problem 1E

Use Table 6-1 to find the saturation mixing ratio (ms) of air samples A and B.

A: ms = ________ g kg−1

B: ms = ________ g kg−1

Expert Solution & Answer
Check Mark
To determine

The saturation mixing ratio of air Samples A and B using Table 6-1.

Answer to Problem 1E

Air SampleAB
Temperature10C38C
Relative humidity75%75%
Saturation mixing ratio7.762gkg144.381gkg1

Explanation of Solution

The mixing of two air masses causes saturation. Generally, mixing involves a change in the amount of water vapor and temperature.

When temperature is given, then saturation mixing ratio can be determined easily from Table 6-1. At a temperature of 10C, the saturation mixing ratio will be 7.762gkg1, and at a temperature of 38C, it will be 44.381gkg1.
