Concept Introduction:
Insulin is an important anabolic peptide hormone secreted by the pancreas. It regulates various metabolic processes such as carbohydrate metabolism, protein, and fatty acid metabolism. The main role of insulin is that it reduces the blood glucose concentration in case of elevated blood sugar levels. The cells that act as primary targets of insulin are liver, muscle, and adipose cells.
