  • The name of cation and anion are arranged in such a way that while naming the compound, cation name comes first whereas the anion name comes in the second.
  • The name of the cation is same if metal ion is a cation having fixed charge. Furthermore, when numerous polyatomic ions are present then the names of polyatomic ions will end in "ate" or "ite".
