You hold two sheets of identical blue paper over your head at the same height. You drop both sheets of paper at the same time and note your observations as to the time and way the two sheets of paper fall through the air. Next, you ball up one sheet of paper and leave the other sheet exactly as it was in the first trial. You hold both pieces of paper over your head at the same height. You drop both pieces of paper at the same time and note your observations as to the time and way the two pieces of paper fall through the air for this second trial. Experimental Design The first trial was: Dependent variable Control

Expert Solution
Step 1

1) In the 1st trial both the sheets of paper must fall at the same time

2) In the 2nd trial the ball of sheet of paper will come down faster, than the other one

1st trial was done to show that no other cause except the shape of the sheet of paper is responsible for the two identical materials to come down.

Greater the surface area, more will be the up thrust felt by the materials, otherwise gravitational acceleration acts on both of them equally, as both have the same mass. So the 1st trial is a control of the experiment
