Write an assembly program that will take in a string from the user and a number and print the character at that number location in the string. You do not have to do error checking.

In this chapter, you learned that although a double and a decimal both hold floating-point numbers, a double can hold a larger value. Write a C# program named DoubleDecimalTest that declares and displays two variables-a double and a decimal. Experiment by assigning the same constant value to each variable so that the assignment to the double is legal but the assignment to the decimal is not. In other words, when you leave the decimal assignment statement in the program, an error message should be generated that indicates the value is outside the range of the type decimal, but when you comment out the decimal assignment and its output statement, the program should compile correctly.

(Practice) Write a C++ program that displays the results of the expressions 3.05.0,7.18.32.2,and3.2/(6.15). Calculate the value of these expressions manually to verify that the displayed values are correct.

Write a program named Twitter that accepts a users message and determines whether it is short enough for a social networking service that does not accept messages of more than 140 characters.

(Practice) An automobile travels at an average speed of 55 mph for 4 hours. Write a C++ program that displays the distance, in miles, the car has traveled after 1, 2, and so on hours until the end of the trip.

(Numerical) Using the srand() and rand() C++ library functions, fill an array of 1000 floating-point numbers with random numbers that have been scaled to the range 1 to 100. Then determine and display the number of random numbers having values between 1 and 50 and the number having values greater than 50. What do you expect the output counts to be?

(Numerical) Write a program that tests the effectiveness of the rand() library function. Start by initializing 10 counters to 0, and then generate a large number of pseudorandom integers between 0 and 9. Each time a 0 occurs, increment the variable you have designated as the zero counter; when a 1 occurs, increment the counter variable that’s keeping count of the 1s that occur; and so on. Finally, display the number of 0s, 1s, 2s, and so on that occurred and the percentage of the time they occurred.

(Statistical) In many statistical analysis programs, data values considerably outside the range of the majority of values are simply dropped from consideration. Using this information, write a C++ program that accepts up to 10 floating-point values from a user and determines and displays the average and standard deviation of the input values. All values more than four standard deviations away from the computed average are to be displayed and dropped from any further calculation, and a new average and standard deviation should be computed and displayed.

(Computation) Among other applications, Pascal’s triangle (see Figure 7.22) provides a means of determining the number of possible combinations of n things taken r at a time. For example, the number of possible combinations of five people (n = 5) taken two at a time (r=2)is10. Each row of the triangle begins and ends with 1. Every other element in a row is the sum of the element directly above it with the element to the left of the one above it. That is, element[n][r]=element[n1][r]+element[n1][r1] Using this information, write and test a C++ program to create the first 11 rows of a twodimensional array representing Pascal’s triangle. For any given value of n less than 11 and r less than or equal to n, the program should display the correct element. Use your program to determine in how many ways a committee of 8 can be selected from a group of 10 people

The program in the Programming Example: Fibonacci Number does not check whether the first number entered by the user is less than or equal to the second number and whether both the numbers are non-negative. Also, the program does not check whether the user entered a valid value for the position of the desired number in the Fibonacci sequence. Rewrite that program so that it checks for these things.
