Question

What is the Evidence for the brain’s control of eating?

Expert Solution
Step 1

The brain is the most complex structure of the body.it has more than 100 million nerves that communicate via transmitting the signals. It comprises the cerebrum, brainstem, and cerebellum. It controls several biologicals actions of the body including touch, vision, memory. emotions, eating, homeostasis.

Step 2

Homeostatic regulation by the hypothalamus is generally responsible for the regulation of eating. Many evidence derives from the experiment in rodents.
Regulation of eating is complex in the human brain, with the many cortical and subcortical processes and many cognitive and affective processes that are involved. Rodent experimental studies have brought key insight into brain regions that regulate appetite and eating behavior. These animal models can only detect the significance of dysfunctional human consumption. Several cognitive and affective system interacts to regulate eating.
Many mechanisms in the human brain, which include homeostatic brain systems (hypothalamus), care system (along with visual corticosteroids), emotional systems and primary memory (such as, amygdala and hippocampus), sensory control systems in the human brain, regulate eating (including the prefrontal cortex).
