There are two types of consciousness. They are "Functional consciousness" and "Phenomenal consciousness". Functional consciousness tries to explain abilities such as attention, perception, sensation, stimulus- response, ect. Phenomenal consciousness tries to explain experiences and mental states. While questions of functional consciousness are considered "easy" problems of consciousness, the problems explaining qualia (experiences) are known as "hard" problems of consciousness.
