In 1821, Mexico attained independence from the rule of Spain. It found the Texas in 1821 and in order to populate this newly found province, the Texans sought American settlers. Soon, the province achieved a population of 7000 people but it soon became a source of conflict between the United States and Mexican Texas. Mexico was unable to put an end to the continuous stream of settlers coming from the United States and allowed the new immigrants to bring slaves into the Mexican territories.
