Expert Solution
Step 1

France and England were embroiled in the Seven Years Wars for gaining hold of North America and the lucrative fur trade. In 1717, the French constructed a fort at Green Bay in order to tighten their reigns over the western Great Lakes. However, it made them engage in conflicts with the Meskwaki Nation that disrupted all the routes of fur trade that lay along the Fox-Wisconsin waterway. When the French built new trade routes along the Ohio, Wabash, and Maumee rivers, they became fully embroiled in the wars with the British. As the French established a string of forts in that region, it encouraged the colonists to take militaristic action against them. The frequent skirmishes between France and England culminated in the war, also called the French and the Indian War, in the subsequent year.
