2. Osmosis. Weigh 2 dry petri dishes labelled A and B. Place 2 pieces of newly sliced
potatoes of about the same length and size in each petri dish and separately weigh the
petri dishes containing the potatoes. Add salt water to petri dish A and distilled water
to petri dish B. The liquid must completely cover the potato slices. Soak the potato for
20 minutes. After soaking, remove the potato slices and wipe dry with tissue paper.
Throw away the liquids in the petri dishes and dry the petri dish using tissue paper. Put
back the potato in their respective petri dishes and again weigh each dish with their
potato slices. Compare the masses of the soaked potato slices to their original masses.
