The term mollisol have derived from the Greek word mollis which means soft. The mollisols are the grassland soils. The color of the mollisol is dark and they are thick the thickness and the softness is due to the addition of organic material derived from the plant root.
The mollisols are dark, thick having much more organic matter due to which the natural fertility is more. Soils have cations like Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+ and K+ which are generally essential for plants growth.
Mollisols are generally form in depth in limestone composition terrain. In Papua New Guinea together with mollisols and entisols they makes the land fertile and great place for the support for the plants.
