Describe the method of data collection?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Sociological research is a scientific study that systematically examines specific social issues. It is similar to the steps involved in natural science research, like- research topic, hypothesis, research objectives, data analysis, etc. Sociologists interview or study human respondents and their ideas about different social phenomena. This helps the researcher determine whether the hypothesis is correct.

Step 2

Data is prime in research, and the accuracy of data in the study enhances the community's research leading towards its progress. Data can be either qualitative and quantitative. Quantitative data deals with numbers, values, and quantities of the data. Qualitative data deals with the quality of the data.

Data can be of two types. Namely- primary data and secondary data. Primary data is collected firsthand through the survey, questionnaire, interview, and observation processes. On the other hand, secondary data may be collected from various sources like books, journals, magazines, published printed sources, general websites, weblogs, etc.
