Define Aztecs

Expert Solution
INTRODUCTION

The Aztec empire ruled over a significant amount of territories in Meso America. The empire existed from the middle of the fourteenth century till its conquest by the Spanish in the early sixteenth century.  Their expansionist policies made them conquer a large number of territories. The city of Tenochtitlan became the capital of the Aztecs in the year 1428. The city was very beautiful with marvelous architecture and town planning.

EXPLANATION

It is said that they had established control over more than four hundred city-states at the peak of their rule. Their policy was not to govern these conquered territories directly as it would have cost them more. They established a tribute system in which the conquered territories agreed to pay them a fixed share of the revenue.
The environment of the Empire was moderate as it was situated near the valleys. The huge mountains acted as the protector for the  Empire. Lakes were abundant in the Empire. This ensured the proper availability of the water.
Before the invasion of the Spanish army, the Aztec Empire had a strong influence in the region of Meso America.
