Short bones: The short bones have length and width at the same level. They provide movement and stability and are located in the wrist and ankle joints. The carpels in hand and tarsals in the ankle are examples of short bones.
Flat bones: Flat bones are thin and wide, which protect the internal organs like the heart and brain. Skull, rib cage, and pelvis are some of the flat bones in the body.
Irregular bones: The irregular bones do not have a regular shape and cannot be placed in a specific category. The complex shape helps in protecting the internal organs. Some of the examples are the vertebral column and the bones of the skull.
