A group of public health nutrition students determined whether mung bean (Vigna radiata) can support growth by performing an experimental growth assay on 30 Sprague Dawley rats. Fifteen rats were randomly allocated to the experimental group and the remaining fifteen were allocated to the control group. The rats were fed ad libitum for two weeks. The experimental group received feeds composed of mung bean while the control group received standard rat feeds. The mean weight of both groups was taken before and after the indicated feeding period.
