Project Introduction On July 25, 2017, there were 28,605 taxi rides in the City of Chicago. (Source : Chicago Data Portal) The data set assigned by your instructor represents the amount of time of a cab ride (in seconds) and the payment method for a random sample of 500 of these rides. Write a report that includes all the items on the following pages. You should have received an email from your instructor with your assigned data set. If you do not use the correct data set assigned by your instructor, you will receive 0 points for this project. Proportion Analysis Using the payment method for the sample of taxi rides : e Construct a frequency and relative frequency distribution for your data (§2.1). e Construct a frequency bar graph for your data. (§2.1) e Construct a pie chart for your data. (§2.1) e Determine the sample proportion, p, of taxi rides paid with a credit card. (§8.2) e Construct a 90% confidence interval for the population proportion. Interpret the interval. (89.1) e A claim was made that half of all taxi rides in the City of Chicago are paid with a credit card, but a friend believes the proportion paid with a credit card to be smaller than the claim. a. Using proper notation, write a set of hypotheses representing the source’s claimed value of the population proportion and how your friend thinks the actual value compare. (§10.1) b. Describe the sampling distribution of the sample proportion, p, assuming the source’s claim (the null hypothesis) is true. (§8.2) Recall : To describe a distribution, identify the shape, center, and spread. ~ . Conduct the appropriate hypothesis test at the o = 0.05 level of significance. Make sure to follow the 5-step process outlined in the notes. Make sure to write a conclusion for your hypothesis test. Would the conclusion of your hypothesis change if o = 0.017 (§10.2)
