Is the BMI amongst the 2 drinking type mothers different?
•The T-test indicates there is no relationship between the Body Mass Index of a drinker versus a nondrinker mother becoming pregnant and her age at the time when their child is born.

Did the amount of education received vary by mothers who drank and those who did not?
•The Chi-square test data indicates a substantial statistical difference between mothers of the two
drinking types. The data presented shows that mothers with more than 12yrs of education are among the non-drinkers. The p-value confirms this by being <0.0001. The difference is 77.6-
77.1-0.5%.
Is there a difference in the percentage of mothers who smoked during pregnancy versus the mothers of the drinker and non-drinker groups?
•The Chi-square indicates there is a significant difference between the mothers who drank versus
those who did not drink during pregnancy. Once again, the p-value indicates this by being <0.0001. In contrast to non-drinkers, drinkers have a higher percentage; the difference is 12-7.5 = 3.5%.
• Does the age of mothers vary between the two drinking types?
Based on the data provided there looks to be a significant amount of variation between the two groups of drinkers and non-drinkers. This is determined by the evidence found on the p-value which is shown to be <0.0001. The difference is 30.1-28.2=1.9.

Were the values of BMI more varied among the women who drank or did not drink prior to getting pregnant? Explain how you know this.
•
The data shows that the mean BMI value for a non-drinker is 23.8kg/m2 with a slight variance of 4.6kg/m2 while the level of drinkers is 23.7kg/m2. As you can see there is no difference between the two drinking types and their BMI values, however studies have been done in the past proving that both men and women BMI values increase when they increase their alcohol intake. The body stores those calories from alcohol as fats which cause your BMI value to increase. 3
