2 Finding Trends and Patterns Upon review of our findings, I discovered that most burglaries occur between the months of January (85), November (83), and December (105). During the month of January, the highest number of burglaries are reported around 4:52 am, 8:08 pm, and 3:51 am. November's highest burglaries occur around 8:17pm, while December's are around 4:52am, 8am, and 8:08pm. This indicates that burglars prefer to strike in the early hours, late evenings, and late at night. Homes and businesses should be extra vigilant during these times and take extra security measures to protect their belongings. January: November:
3 December: If law enforcement incorporates the theory of social disorganization and social learning into their strategies and policies, burglary criminals are more likely to be deterred from committing burglary crimes. As shown in figure 1, the number of burglaries that occur each year is compared with the number of criminals who perpetrate burglaries who have prior arrests. Furthermore, students in middle schools have the highest number of prior arrests. According to the social disorganization theory, communities with well-developed family and community structures have lower crime rates, whereas those with weak structures have higher rates of crime (Errol, Madsen & Moslehi, 2021). In Figure 1, a greater percentage of individuals with prior arrests only reached middle school compared to individuals who reached high school. In spite of this, the highest number of burglaries were committed by individuals with a high school diploma. The results in the table are consistent with the social disorganization theory in which individuals who did make it to college might not have had a strong family structure at home. However, the social learning theory suggests that socializing with other people who commit delinquency will influence the self-control of those who participate in delinquency and encourage them to participate as well (Archer & Flexon, 2022). According to figure 2, most burglaries occur among adults in their 20s. Their burglary behavior is a result of the negative influences and structures

4 that surround them. It is important to focus on the socialization of adults in their 20s in order to reduce burglary rates. This can be done by providing adults in their 20s with positive social influences and supportive structures. Additionally, providing educational initiatives that focus on the importance of self-control can help to reduce the risk of burglaries. Governments should also focus on providing economic opportunities for young adults, as this can help them to reduce their poverty and find legitimate ways to earn money. Finally, it is important for governments to invest in crime prevention initiatives, such as increased police presence and harsher penalties for burglary. Figure 1. Figure 2.
