A brief description of the program to be developed The program is called Burley Social Services, LLC of Stockbridge, Georgia. Burley Social Services, LLC of Stockbridge, Georgia, a 501 (c) (3) public benefit corporation, is dedicated to helping individuals, families, and the community on a micro, mezzo, and macro level. Burley Social Services (BSS) creates healthy relationships, and community-based collaborations to help those in need and provide a better and meaningful future. Criteria for inclusion in the program (which clients and why) The clients included are children, adolescents, and adults. The inclusion of the program involves being registered. There will be different programs available to support and benefit everyone. The percentage breakdown of funding, including grants, private funding, faith-based sources, and public sources. Demographics will include the metro Atlanta area. There will also be after-school activities, a 24-hour therapist available, and other resources. The program will be equipped to provide the appropriate level of care for its clients. Ensuring equality is important to all regardless of beliefs, disability, sexual orientation, or race. Diversity includes respecting differences between all clients. A diverse group of people can bring a different perspective to everyone involved. Everyone will be valued, included, and treated with respect. The program will create a culture that makes everyone feel welcome. According to NASW (1.02 Self- Determination), “Social workers respect and promote the right of clients to self- determination and assist clients in their efforts to identify and clarify their goals” (NASW,2021).
Justification for the proposed program. What two best methods would you use to gather credible information to support the need for your program (e.g., interviews, surveys, focus groups, etc.)? Why? Be sure to state from whom you would gather the information. The first method is an interview. Gathering information from clients can help create culturally competent interventions. Interviews are one of the best ways to get to know a client and build a connection. Also, the best way to find more of one’s tribe. Interviews are a good way to build a strong foundation with messaging that connects to the clients that one may serve. During an interview, the assessment process for a program can be beneficial as well by allowing the social worker more information from the client. The second method is focus groups. According to Dudley, “Focus groups can be used to find out the views of several people on an issue that is important to everyone” (Dudley,2020). Focus groups can be beneficial in a clinical setting because many of the clients are facing similar concerns. The information will be gathered from children, adolescents, adults, and their families.
