Report
s a researcher for the study, I found that the social worker made several violations when she presented the study the client. The sessions were about the client's hoarding issues and the problems with her daughter (Walden University, 2013). The client was presented an opportunity for study with those who have issues with hoarding and the social worker assumed she would be interested (Walden University, 2013). As the social worker, she should have been more empathetic and validating the client. Instead, the social worker disregarded the client's hesitation of participating in the study. The social worker tried to bribe her with putting emphasis on the payment portion of the study (NASW, n.d.) . According to the NASW Code of Ethics (n.d), the social worker did not follow the guideline for informed consent because the social worker did not provide many details of the study to the client and pressured her into allowing the social worker to give the number to the researcher. Yegidis, Weinbach, and Myers (2018) state that social workers have an "ethical obligation to safeguard their health and their well-being" (p.25). References: National Association of Social Workers.
