SOC 112 Module Four Worksheet: Wealth Inequality in America Watch the video Wealth Inequality in America , (the captoned video is available at Wealth Inequality in America-captoned ). Then, answer the following questons in complete sentences (1–3 sentences per queston). You will need to support your answers with one scholarly source. Your responses will be graded using the Module Four Worksheet Rubric. 1. Describe your initial reaction to the concepts in this video. My initial reaction was shock, I was really blown away at the numbers that were presented. How could America be in such a high number of wealth when it is not something we have seen much of. 2. Did any of the information in the video surprise you? Why or why not? Alot of the information in the video surprised me. I was unaware that the distribution of wealth was so uneven. It’s a known fact that the poor to middle class struggle financially and sometimes depend on government assistance to be able to provide for their families. Those in need should receive the necessary funds but so many are being turned away due to not enough funding. 3. Discuss how a person’s social class (also referred to as socioeconomic status) can affect his or her chances of success. A person’s social class can play a major part in a successful life. Sometimes a child’s up bringing can make them a better person or drag them down. Children learn from their parents, from the environment they are raised in, the community and society. The point is where you are raised and how you are raised does not define you as a person. The lower to middle class can get to where they want to be but just have to have a little help such as government aid and putting a lot of hard work Downloaded by Ginnetta Waiters-Groves (ginnettawaiters@gmail.com) lOMoARcPSD|5638523
but they do have a chance at being successful. The upper class are usually the ones that can pretty much do what they want and how they want. Not really worrying about failing and being unsuccessful they have the drive to make things happen for themselves and their family Downloaded by Ginnetta Waiters-Groves (ginnettawaiters@gmail.com) lOMoARcPSD|5638523
