SPED Lesson Plan Template This special education lesson plan is designed for teaching a replacement behavior – not academics ! As a special educator, from time to time, you will need to teach correct behaviors, particularly for students on a Behavior Intervention Plan. This lesson plan is for guiding you in designing a lesson for teaching a replacement behavior . Name: Knowledge of Learning Environment and Classroom Demographics Describe the classroom (i.e., SES, medical, language, rural/urban/suburban, diversity, and environment). Content Area: Grade Level: Time Needed for Lesson: Name of Activity: Goal/Learning Objective: State IEP Goal Selected State Kansas Social, Emotional, Character Standard Selected Write one-sentence objective(s) in ABCD (audience, behavior, conditions, degree) format. Prerequisites/Background Knowledge State what the teacher and students should know prior to this lesson (include prior knowledge and anticipated common misconceptions) . State terms and definitions utilized or needed in this lesson . Resources: List the manipulatives, equipment, and other Revised JL 05.06.20

SPED Lesson Plan Template materials needed to enhance instruction and student learning in the lesson. Technology: (1) Identify technology needed in lesson and (2) select the appropriate ISTE Standard that aligns with this need. INSTRUCTION: LESSON STRUCTURE AND PROCEDURES: Evidence-based Instructional Strategies In this section you will describe the approach you will take to implement this lesson. How will the students be engaged and motivated to learn? Include samples of questions or comments designed to: 1. Create interest; 2. Initiate the experience; and 3. Familiarize children with content-specific language. BE SPECIFIC! Be explicit – very, very clearly write out what you will say, what you will do, what you expect students to say and do, and how you will respond. Engagement/Opening: Introduction, link to previous learning, assessment of prior learning, etc. How will students be focused on the lesson and motivated to learn? Learning Activities/Procedures: (include step-by-step of what the teacher will do and what the students will do, questions to be asked, examples, cooperative learning activities, etc.) Guided Practice: include activities for guided practice Closure: (Recap the lesson objectives and assessment of learning.) Follow-Up: Describe a quick activity for review or for building on the lesson that Revised JL 05.06.20

SPED Lesson Plan Template will deepen student understanding and interconnect concepts. (The activity may be incorporated in class the next day or throughout the unit.) Assessments Informal Assessment: Identify the assessment that occurred before, during, and after the lesson. Formal Assessment: Identify the assessment that occurred before, during, and after the lesson. Differentiation/Accommodations/Modifications/Cultural Relevance (Describe the strategies implemented to meet the needs of all learners). Reteach: Explain if reteaching is needed to meet the learning goal/objective. If yes, explain how lesson will be retaught Accommodations/ Modifications Include accommodations and/or modifications made to meet the needs of student(s). Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Learners: Explain ways to accommodate/modify the lesson for students who are culturally and linguistically diverse. Revised JL 05.06.20
