Wk 8 Discussion 2 - Course Reflection [due Sat] Due Saturday Throughout this course, you have completed the research process. Take a moment to reflect on your learning. Write a 250- to 300-word response to the following: How will you apply what you’ve learned in this course to your personal, professional, or future research work? It is important for a researcher underlying principles of statistics and statistical methods used in quantitative research in order to critically analyze results of research studies because researchers connect the statistical analysis they choose with the type of research question, design and amount of data collected. Statistical procedures can be divided into two categories: descriptive and inferential statistics (Sullivan-Bolyai & Bova, 2014). Researchers reliably use inferential statistic procedures to estimate their predictions and findings based on data and draw conclusions that go beyond the data that was collected (Frankfort-Nachmias et al, 2019). The key differences between the two statistical procedures are: descriptive statistics summarizes and describes the characteristics of a data set and inferential statistics allows the researcher test a hypothesis and determine whether the data collected is able to be generalized and allow for conclusions to be drawn from a broader population based on sampling. These are the foundational things I have learned in this class over the past two months. Currently my dissertation research method is quantitative so the key pieces of information I have learned in this course will help me and can be used to refer back to as I continue on my dissertation journey. This course has been the most challenging thus far, and I hope that I have taken away the pieces that will help me be successful. In my life,, I believe we use statistics in some shape or form daily. I believe statistics help us understand the world around us and appreciate analysis. In addition, this course has helped me in my career, from a data and analysis stand point.
