SPCE290 FALL 22’ Discussion Board BCBA Certification 1. What is the definition of Applied Behavior Analysis. - Applied Behavior Analysis known as ABA is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. ABA is used in many ways to teach others different ways to functionally deal with social, education, etc. behaviors. Its known to attempt improve targeted behaviors in others using different types of baseline teaching. 2. What is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst? What does someone with the BCBA credential do? - A Board Certified Behavior Analyst is a Graduate-level certification in behavior analysis. Ones who are certified as a BCBA level are independent practitioners who provide behavior-analytic services. BCBA professionals can also supervise the work of any BCaBAs as well as any RBT and RLT. 3. What is a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) and how are they different from someone with the BCBA credential? - A BCaBA is a undergraduate-level certification in behavior analysis. Anyone who is certified in BCaBA level can provide behavior services under the supervision of a BCBA. BCaBA can only supervise the work of a RBT or RLT meanwhile BCBA can supervise everyone. 4. Briefly give your own thoughts and opinion about the requirements and process of becoming a BCaBA and BCBA (e.g. How do they impact the field of ABA?; How is the public affected?; etc.). - My thoughts and opinions on the requirements and process of becoming either a BCaBa or BCBA are very worth every step. Each step has a reason; each course, supervised hours, passing an exam, etc. All of these are for you to become as knowledgeable as possible to help these specific individuals. The field of ABA is a very important field, there are a bunch of Do’s and Don’ts. BCaBA or BCBA impact the field of ABA in a very large way, by helping others become successful. ABA affects the public in multiple ways such as making plans for any client in a class or home. Which helps teachers parents and others while they aren’t in the care of a professional.
