Importance of studying the Bible
It is vital for us as Christians to study the Bible and take in what the Lord thy God is
saying because it is spiritual food to help us grow in God; it teaches us how to love people the
way God loves us. It teaches us how to deal with the wicket and ensure we stay true to ourselves.
It also reveals the mysteries of the Almighty, and the Bible is God's written instruction for us to
thrive. 1 Peter 2:2 says, "Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you
will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment" (Holy Bible, New
Living Translation, 2004).
This verse reveals that a newly born-again Christian's life is like a newborn's. Think
about it: newborn babies crave milk from their mothers, which nourishes their bodies until they
begin craving table food and progress off the milk. Furthermore, according to 1 Peter 2:2, we
also crave milk. However, there is spiritual nourishment from knowledge of the Word and a
relationship with the Lord our Father because the enemies could lead us astray. If the ideas being
deemed as "spiritual truth" do not align with the Word of God, then the "truth" does not come
from Him (Session 2 Biblical Perspectives, 2023).
The second point is that the Holy Spirit reveals God's mysteries. 1 Corinthian 2:10-12
says, "But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out
everything and shows us God's deep secrets. No one can know a person's thoughts except that
person's Spirit, and no one can know God's thoughts except God's Spirit. Furthermore, we have
received God's Spirit (not the world's Spirit), so we can understand the beautiful things God has
freely given us" (Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (2004).
However, when we are young, we do not understand the Bible to its full intentions. That
is why we rely on our elders in our family and our pastor to teach, lead, and guide us.

Furthermore, just like everyone else, we are all human, and none are perfect. All of us have
flaws. Lord knows we have made our fair share of mistakes. Many of us had the world's Spirit,
which gave carnal knowledge pointing to self and sin. Now that we are born again, these verses
can help us understand that no one knows the fullness of God except His Spirit, but His Spirit
unveils the secrets of God to us because we have received the Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus and
being grafted into God's family is the gift given freely to us. The mysteries of God point back to
the cross. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, was the planned atonement since the beginning of the world,
but the Lord's Spirit is only revealed to those in him.
To summarize, the Bible is God's instruction for us to thrive. Psalm 119:105 says, "Your
Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed that
I will follow your righteous laws. I have suffered much; preserve my life, LORD, according to
your Word." (Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (2004). This verse is a metaphor. Think about
it: a lamp provides light in the darkness. God's Word is the lamp for our Spirit to find our way
out of the darkness. The lamp offers us an oneness with God, where He will give us wisdom to
navigate life. The lamp also represents Jesus Christ, who guides us on the path of righteousness
and steers us away from the path of the wicked.
