Reading Head: Module 3: Crisis Handling: Walk Ins, Telephone, and Online 2 Triage Assessment Form Client support is provided by listening to the client’s concerns and feelings, as well as providing a sense of hope. I would also provide her with information about cancer and treatment options, as well as point her in the direction of additional resources. This approach would assist the client in coming to terms with her diagnosis and formulating a course of action. Explanation: I have selected the following crisis scenario/case study:  Client is a 20-year-old female who has just been diagnosed with cancer. She is extremely upset and is having difficulty coping with the news. 1. Action strategy that provides client support.  I would provide support to the client by listening to her concerns and feelings and providing reassurance and hope. I would also provide information about cancer and treatment options and refer her to resources for additional support. 2. Define the problem.  The problem is that the client has just been diagnosed with cancer and is having difficulty coping with news. 3. Identify one alternative.  An alternative would be to refer the client to a support group for people with cancer. 4. Identify one planning action step.  A planning action step would be to help the client develop a plan for coping with her diagnosis, including seeking support from family and friends, getting regular exercise, and eating a healthy diet. 5. Identify one client coping strength.

Identify one referral/network resource.  One referral/network resource is the American Cancer Society 7. The contract that you would propose with the client:  In order to ensure that she follows through on the action plan, I would set up a client contract with her. Among the promises made in the contract are the following:  The client will seek support from family and friends.  The client will get regular exercise  The client will eat a healthy diet.
