3) In a cohesive paragraph, indicate what behaviors and thoughts maintained Janet’s symptomatology. - Tim Janet's symptomatology was maintained by her passive response to stressors, as she withdrew socially and constantly worrying over her problems. Negative thought patterns and self-blame reinforced her depression, while her social isolation and inactivity created a cycle that deepened her depressive state. Her depressive symptoms persisted due to a combination of being deep in thought, negative thinking, self-blame, social isolation, and a lack of engagement in enjoyable activities. These factors interacted to sustain Janet’s depressed mood and prevent her from breaking free from the cycle of depression. 5) In a cohesive paragraph, indicate the issues with the current diagnostic system for mood disorders in the DSM (we discussed these in class). What are some issues with the categorical nature of the manual? Suggest a better system for diagnosis of mood disorders (discussed in class). The current categorical diagnostic system for mood disorders in the DSM has issues, such as oversimplification and potential misdiagnosis. One of the reasons for the misdiagnosis, is that a lot of mental health disorders have similar symptoms that cannot be easily filtered through but the DSM system.. A better system, discussed in class, would be a dimensional approach, considering factors like symptom severity and functional impairment for more accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment. 6) How do you think you did working with this group compared with groups you’ve worke hu d with in the past? Was it essentially the same or did you have a different experience? I feel like this group worked very well together, even if there were slight bumps. We communicated well and got our work done on time, so that’s all that really matters. I had the same experience overall. 7) What strategies helped with the collaboration? What did not work? 8) What changes will you make next time to work together more effectively?
