Mariam Sano Professor Susan Psych life span Observation assignment 1. observation: In this video, a boy of about 3-years-old and lady are at like a daycare setting with other kids surrounded around toys are sitting on the rug. The lady is recording the other kids as well as the three-year-old where he continues to observe around him and play with toys. He starts going down the slide with a boy in a green shirt, then proceeds to walk over to where 2 kids were playing with cars on a car woodwall play with the car and the other kid in the green shirt puts all the toys back in a bin and put the blue lid back on , the kid then opens the lids back up with the assist of the green shirt kid they dump the toy onto the rug he then moves on to another station to search for more cars and plays there towards the end of the video as he repletely look around his surrounding out of curiosity he The baby is wearing a purple dress with white poke dots sitting up with toys Infront of her. Her arms are moving. While mom picks up the objects Infront of her to hand them to her. She is also reaching for toys that are right in front of her. She smiles and looks at her mom when she speaks to him. She is paying close attention to what her mom is doing and proceeds to drop the toy.as her mother moves the objects she proceeds to start crawling to retain the toys back. She has a toy brownie and is trying to put it into her mouth. She is now observing the toys on her own while still being in a seated position. She continues to keep the toy in her mouth, turning it and eventually laying down on the ground. Mom then puts her to another toy to play there she stands and plays with the toy. 2. Interpretation:
It is estimated that the baby in purple is between the ages of 12 and 13 months. She is now able to sit by herself on her own. To help her balance herself and interact with the toys, she uses her mom's voice to help her interact with them. Clearly, she has some fine motor skills as she was able to pick up and hold a toy with ease. Currently, she is in the sensorimotor stage of Piaget's developmental process. In her concept, circular reactors are being used. The way in which she demonstrated this was by repeatedly shaking the brownie toy as she took it in her hand. When she sucked on the toy, she used the principle of primary circularity. Additionally, she exhibited secondary circular reactions as well. It was clear that she was very interested in what she saw around her and continued to shake the toy and copy what her mom was doing. Currently, the baby is in Freud's oral stage. She always put the toy up in her mouth to try to suck it. She was also not really into standing but her mom made it easy with talking. She was beginning to understand the concept of cause and effect, playing with the toy to see the results. She was also starting to recognize the people and objects around her, showing more and more interest in them. She was beginning to explore her world.
