2 Trauma and Stress Related Disorder’s Symptoms Disorders in which exposure to traumatic or stressful events is specifically mentioned as a diagnostic criterion are referred to as trauma and stressor associated disorders. Acute stress disorder, disinhibited social engagement disorder, adjustment disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and reactive attachment disorder are a few of these. The placement of this chapter in relation to the surrounding chapters on anxiety disorders, dissociative disorders, and obsessive-compulsive and associated disorders highlights the strong relationship between these diagnoses and disorders. The symptoms can include withdrawing behavior, externalizing anger and aggression, and fear-based behaviors. (DSM-5, 2013). Differences Children might not experience flashbacks or trouble recalling specific aspects of the trauma, in contrast to adults who frequently experience stress associated to trauma. This is according to Thakur et el., 2016 However, children disorder the events that led up to the trauma. Additionally, they could believe that there were indicators that the event will occur. They believe that these indications will reappear before new trauma occurs as a result. While some individuals think linearly, they believe that if they pay attention, they may prevent trauma in the future. Play is another way that children express the stress associated with trauma; they may reenact specific scenes from the experience or incorporate elements of it into their everyday lives. This can transform into impulsive and violent behaviors as children get older, so they'll need to rely on adults for support and direction. An adult has the ability to help oneself.
3 Outline The DSM-5 breaks down the criteria for children based on age restrictions, the activity that may be occurring with a function or functions, the length of time, and if the diagnosis may be applied to a child. A narrative breakdown is also included. This is accurate for children and also true for adults.
