In this discussion, begin by introducing yourself to the class. Include your physics background, especially any hands-on experiences. Next, think about some motion from your daily life that you have questions about. Discuss what causes the motion or talk about something that you can't explain. Try to describe the motion in terms scientists might use, such as accuracy and precision . Think about questions like these: Is velocity constant or changing? How can you describe this motion so someone who cannot see it understands? Would a diagram be helpful? Hello Everyone! My name is Sara Rigby, I am studying for a degree in Geoscience. I am a stay-at-home mom to my daughter who will be 1 year old in a couple weeks. I have little professional experience in physics but have always found the subject interesting, so I am excited to learn more about it through this course! I just threw a load of laundry in while writing this post and thought about how the washing machine can throw the water off the clothes so that they are ready to throw into the dryer. I know that centrifugal force is what allows this to happen, but I don’t fully understand the mechanics of it and would love to learn more about it. I think a diagram might be helpful in this situation to help explain how the washer is able to spin the clothes fast enough to throw the water molecules off. I do think that the velocity of the washer is most likely variable and changing, although the speed may stay the same, I think the position of the washer changes the velocity.
