Right-Wing Extremism in the United States
Since the arrival of Europeans on this country's shores, we have had a problem with domestic
Terrorism. White Europeans forced their laws and customs on the indigenous inhabitants through
intimidation, religion, perceived white superiority. This scene has played out since the
establishment of this country. This author believes White Nationalism is as American as the flag
we pledge allegiance. Found in the United States is intertwined into this country's fabric.
Many of the most famous and infamous acts in American history involved armed insurrection
by citizens against the government. According to Jones, S.G (November 2018), right-wing
terrorists commonly refer to the use or threat of violence by sub-national or non-state entities
whose goal may include racial, ethnic, or religious supremacy; opposition to government
authority; and the practices like abortion (p.1). According to the Department of Homeland
Security (DHS), the number one domestic threat to the United States' security is right-wing
Extremism.

The Identity Christian Movement
The Christian identity movement is where right-wing White racial separatist, White
supremacist, extremist, Neo-Nazi, Skin Heads, militia, and Survivalist, philosophically meet. The
common denominator among these groups is the white race's advancement—a place where only
White Anglo-Saxon Protestants (WASP) are superior to all others. The Christian movement has
been connected to violent acts; they are considered acts of domestic Terrorism. According to
Sharpe, T (2014), The Identity Christian movement motivates many Terrorism acts in our
country today. This aberrant from Christianity is an outgrowth of the White supremacist
philosophy (p.605).

Left-wing Extremism
Left-wing Extremism is defined by their ideology that is political and tends to prescribe to
pro-Marxist-Leninist thinking. DeLeeuw, J. G & Pridemore, W. A (2018) the core goals of their
operations frequently involve efforts directed at a regime change, an opposition to capitalism,
and a desire for social justice (p.3). Examples of these groups in the United States are the Earth
Liberation Front (ALF), Weather Underground, and Animal Liberation Front (ALF). Like the
right-wing extremist, they tend to use violence to get their point across. The Animal Liberation
Front and Earth Liberation Front were both founded in the United Kingdom and made their way
to the U.S in 1992. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), in the 1990s, ELF
was designated as the number one domestic threat to security to the United States.

In late 1990, organizations began writing laws and procedures for the surveillance of eco-
terrorist groups like ALF, allowing them to gather information and eventually arrest and
prosecute the group's members. Law enforcement dedicated many government resources to
combat the domestic threat this eco-terrorist posed. Leadenhall, M (2017) noted that court
records imply that the National Security Agency, typically used for outside military operations,
might have been used to conduct wiretapping domestically on the activist (p.1).

Black Separatism Movement
The Black Separatist movement was established to answer the extreme White Supremacy that
has existed in the country. This category of non-state actors operates on the fringes of society.
They usually hold extreme hate for white people, gays, and Jews. The religious sect of the
movement strongly believes that the black race is the chosen people of the Bible, which include
groups like The New Black Panther Party for Self Defense, Black Hebrew Israelites, and
Ambassadors of Crist, the ideology that all black people should separate, themselves from white
people. They go as far as calling for their homeland; it is their answer to the White Supremacy
problem.

Black Separatist/Nationalists have wanted a place for themselves since the W.B. Dubois and
Harold Cruse. Many in black America have called grown disillusioned with how America's white
power structure has treated them. According (1970), whites and despair's broken promises over
the depth of racism have occasionally led disillusioned blacks to renounce the United States
(p.1).

As one watches his/her favorite media platform whenever the topic of Terrorism is viewed,
they see slum with dirty, disheveled children running with little or no parental supervision. They
perpetuate the stereotype that all terrorists all come from an underdeveloped country. Empirical
evidence has not shown a clear connection between social-economics and terrorist acts.
According to Piazza, J. A (2011) studies examining individuals likewise do not reveal a causal
link between poverty, inequality, and Terrorism (p.340).
