I truly believe we should treat others as family, and I incorporate this belief in my personal philosophy of nursing and practice. We see people on probably what is their worst day or worst time in their lives. In order to provide the best care possible, it is important to put ourselves in the patient’s shoes and think about how we would want to be treated if it was us. By remembering that we are all human beings, we all have emotions, and all come from different walks of life we can provide care that is compassionate. Essentially, treating patients like family is valuable in our nursing practice.
In my opinion, I don’t think there is a huge difference between the associate-prepared nurse role and baccalaureate-prepared nurse. I feel that ADNs are trained in a more clinically oriented manner, focusing on skills and tasks. Whereas BSNs are trained to focus on decision-making and leadership. My perception has not changed much, but I can see how a baccalaureate-
prepared nurse is probably more equipped to fit into a leadership role.

Hello, I also believe that having empathy for patients and all people would make this world a better place. It is important to treat our patients how we would want to be treated, treating them with compassion and empathy. We should never judge our patients and treat them differently because they potentially can’t afford their care. I also feel that there is not a huge difference in the roles between an associate-prepared nurse and a baccalaureate-prepared nurse. I do believe that a baccalaureate-prepared nurse is more favored when it comes to applying for a leadership role.

Hello, I also believe that advocating for our patients and doing what is best for them is what our personal philosophy and nursing practice should consist of. It is sad that some hospitals or facilities are only geared toward money and do not keep the patient’s care first in mind. It must be frustrating to see that process day after day. I also feel that as we learn more about our baccalaureate roles our views will change.
